Panama Postal Address?

Does anyone know if I can get a delivery address arranged in Panama, Pacific side?
I will need to get a package delivered in a couple of weeks and would want to be able to pick it up once we're through the canal.

Does anyone know if any yacht clubs would accept mail for inbound cruisers?

Is Jedi still around?

Vic

Balboa Yacht Club

Balboa Yacht Club
Amador Causeway, Panama City , (next to Country Inn & Suites Hotel / Fridays Restaurant) , Position 8°56.09N, 79°33.28W.
Tel:+507 228 5794 ,VHF Channel 6
bycmarina@cwpanama.net

Check with them first! Also check availability of their moorings. Great location, easy place to get taxis. etc. good place to jump off from, or to settle after canal transit.

Dont confuse with Balboa YC in California.

Re: Panama Postal Address?

Gente de Mar can also accept mail at their address in Miami and get it to Panama (Las Briasas or La Playita) quickly.

Jedi's motor caravanning through the State's at the moment... next stop Georgia...
If your using an agent... like Eric for example he'd likely be happy to receive it for you... though if its boat parts you may have to go to an office somewhere and get customs clearance..

Still around a bit here too

Mailboxes Etc. is in both Panama City and Colon and may be able to help too, incl. international shipment. If you need biat parts, you can order from Marine Warehouse in Miami and they will deliver on the dock.

Re: Panama Postal Address?

Thanks as usual

I haven't had a response to my email to Balboa YC so I'll give them a call, and I'll check out Mailboxes Etc.

I don't need to buy stuff, this is just a bit of gear that failed within it's warrantee period so I need somewhere for them to send a replacement.

Jedi... after hearing about Boatman weaving around the dock on rubbery legs after a couple of hours with you I was looking forward to discovering your recipe..

On the other hand, maybe the gods are protecting me...

Vic

Becareful about shipping boat parts to Panama through normal UPS, FexEx or DSL. It is very expensive, mostly because the Panamanians charge a Customs in Inspection Fee on all packages entering the country. I shipped an alternator down and it cost $535 for shipping, including a $250 Customs Inspection Fee and no this is not a tax.

Even shipping mail to Panama via those services is very expensive... Using the Florida shipper will save you big dollars, but will take more time. The reason is the Customs Inspection fee for the container is spread out among all the boxes inside the container, reducing it to a manageable level.

We stay at Balboa YC from July to November of 2012 and they were happy to accept mail. Your best bet it to talk to the Office directly. The office is located on the end of the pier in the little building up the stairs.

Good luck!
