Overseas insurance for Australian registered Vessel

Hi, I知 hoping someone can help with obtaining insurance on a yacht I知 settling on in a couple of weeks.

The vessel is on the hard in Greece, and will be Au flagged. I知 in Australia and the only two companies that I can find to provide the insurance are:

Topsail
pantaneus.

I liked the quotation from TopSail, however they could not provide it to me anymore as they do not have a local underwriter anymore. I presume anyone with a renewal will get quite a surprise! They did provide another offshore quotation that was not to my liking and came with disclaimers regarding Australian legal protection etc.

Are there any alternatives in getting insurance for the Mediteranian?

I would appreciate any experiences you may be able to pass on.

Steve

I don't know if there are any more but Pantaenius has a stellar reputation for paying the claims.

That痴 a very important point you make.

There is an insurance broker in lefkas , who seems to be more competitive then Pantaenius. Having said that I知 with Pantaenius and while it痴 pricey , I知 happy

Correct me if things have changed but I was under the impression that Australian registered boats were only allowed to use Australian Insurance companies?

I think you値l find that topsail are now brokers, not insurers, and they are pushing New Wave. Very expensive too.

Topsail were always brokers, red sky their underwriters here in Australia have decided to withdraw from the pleasure yacht business.

As is said topsail are using an offshore policy now.

New wave do not provide a policy.

Good morning Steve

We have a couple of marine insurers on our panel that'll probably offer terms. Suggest you send us an email.

Thanks Pat,
I did a google on Edward Williams....... results were not good.

I think Pantanious is the way to go.

Re: Overseas insurance for Australian registered Vessel

We have Pantaenius, for Australian travel only at this stage, but I was told we would be able to convert to international with them when we are (hopefully) allowed to leave the country at some stage.
I suggest you give our broker a try. She specialises in hard to place insurance.
