Our cruising costs - month 18 for a middle-aged couple on a modest boat.

We just finished up our 18th month of cruising full-time on our Bristol 29.9.

February was spent in the Exumas. It's easy to keep the spending down when there isn't much to spend money on. People who avoid the Bahamas thinking it’s too expensive should really reconsider. Our lowest cost months have been in the Bahamas both last year and this year, even factoring in the money we spend provisioning before we leave. Of course if we went out a lot that would be different, but it’s really only as expensive as one chooses to make it.

We are already kicking around a few upgrades for this year so months like this help to ease the sting of those future purchases.

Here we go:

Groceries/Non-food Groceries/Alcohol: $300.01

Medical: $14.34

Cell data, iCloud storage, and Garmin inReach subscription: $102.49

Mail service: $100.00

Laundry: $7.00

Restaurants/Entertainment: $31.00

Boat stuff: $32.00 (replacement exhaust hose, foam tape to use as replacement gasket for Nature's Head)

Random and subscriptions: $754.33 (subscriptions, DAN Boaters evacuation insurance, trash disposal, Federal and CT taxes)

Total: $1,341.17

2020 Monthly average: $1,584.63

2019 monthly average: $3,457.97

2018 monthly average (September – December): $4,465.95

Monthly average since starting to cruise: $3,473.82
