What kind of help exactly? In Northwest Yachting's January issue there's a listing of WA moorage resources. Odds are there's something similar in BC?

You might want to be more specific. You need help setting up the sailboat as a liveaboard? You need some possible locations to moor? Advice on rules and regulations?

Re: Northwest live aboard Info

Maybe start with a more detailed description of your boat and how she's currently set up, as well as your past experience. Using the google search option under the 'seach' tab near the top of this page will help you find information to get started with. I started searching this site a year or two ago and I'm still learning from all the past information. Everytime I think of a question I usually find the answer has already been written. Once you narrow down some really specific questions you can post for that specific information. Have fun!

If totally anchored, not on a rented mooring that might link to a marina or harbor master, only two options I know.

One get a family member or friend to let you use his/her address.

Or, pay a mail service that does this for a fee. One of the oldest in the business is Brendan's Isle in Florida. They give you a street address and mailing address, receive mail and packages. Open and trash the junk mail and forward or scan and email to you the real stuff.

Re: Northwest live aboard Info

OK, realistically, there are plenty of places to anchor out.
-You must have some kind of scheme for toilet to be legal. That will be your biggest problem. Sooner or later someone will want to check and see that you have it solved and legal. For this reason among many others, you are far better off getting a slip in a marina and using their facilities.
-Other issues at anchor are keeping your batteries up and charged.
-Finding a place where they allow you to go ashore with a dingy can be a problem in places. You need to get food and water to the boat.
All these things lead to being in a marina... where you have water, power and facilities at hand.

Living on the hook in a small cheap boat just isn't done around here anymore. Try to turn this particular dream into reality and odds are it will turn into a nightmare in the process...

The San Juans are in WA not BC.
