Well, we departed Muskegon, Michigan in June. Retired Friday, aboard Saturday, departed Sunday. We departed the Great Lakes by the Weland Canal, St Lawrence seaway and around the Gaspesie Penninsula. We hugged the north shore of Prince Edward Island and headed south to the canal and on to the south shore of Nova Scotia (fog fog fog!). Highlight was a seal that met me on th boarding ladder to sniff my leg. We crossed the Bay of Fundy and made Bar Harbor in a massive SE blow with short vertical walls of water and torrential rain. We spent two weeks in Nantucket visiting old family friends. (Expensive place) our next move was a run for Newport by way of Woods Hole to sit out Mathew. We continued into Long Island sound, East River and up the Hudson th the 79th street pier (the worst stop with the worst people of the entire trip!!!!!!). Transit south from here gets difficult for a deep draft and tall mast. We went up river in the Delaware and crossed by canal to the Cheasapeak. We found many nice stops here and hung around for several weeks. We anchored adjacent to the Naval Acadamy practice fields for about three weeks and attended the boat show. If you make this stop be sure to see the museum at the academy. Great naval war displays dating from long ago. The upstairs has hundreds of ancient ship models including some made of bone. We made new friends here and were encouraged to join the Salty Dawg rally to Virgin Gorda. This appealed as a better way to bypass the shallow inlets and low bridges of the east coast.

Here we are! Transit was 7.5 days. We had two days over 200 miles. Planning now for Christmas season in the US and haul out for a few weeks & bottom job.

Re: NICK58

You're hauling out in the BVI? Wouldn't Virginia been a lot cheaper?

They worked long and hard for this, now they wanted to play for a while.
