Thumbs up Re: Need advise and feedback

Your past experience & skills will stand you in good stead, but you'll probably spent at least some time saying, "Now how did I used to do that??" Give yourself time. The difference in size won't matter - it's a boat.
My husband and I had an unexpected opportunity to take our 3 children out of school & go sailing for a year when they were 15 and 11 (twins) & it was a great experience that we would do again in a heartbeat. Read Sensible Cruising: The Thoreau Approach by Don Casey & Lewis Hackler and go!

Re: Need advise and feedback

Welcome! I'm in the "just go for it" camp, but it does depend on your personality because if every problem you face breaks you down a bit more, rather than build you up as the learning tool it should be, then you will find the boat gets used less and less. Sail as often as you can to build confidence, take it easy when you try new things, bring experienced people on board when you can, shrug off the times you come in scraping the dock, put out big fenders, think ahead three steps before you act, and always remember it's just a bunch of epoxy and gelcoat as long as no one gets hurt. Above all, have fun.
