I am in Port Townsned, Washington...they are replacing my dock this winter so I am on the hard at no extra charge this winter (paying slip rental w/no haul out fees to be on the hard for 6-8 months).

I live aboard part (most of the)time, as my home is 200 miles from the coast and the coast is where the work is. Prior to buying a boat I was paying rent for a place I did not want to live in and had to either endure someone elses terrible taste in furniture or buy a lot of furnishings I did not wish to buy or care to own.

I find the furniture aspect the best thing about about living aboard, I have less stuff.
Costs run about the same (thats with all taxes plus West Marine expenditures incl), downside is that on a cold miserable evening rather than "go below" you find yourself perusing Barnes and Noble's until closing.
