It was some sort of sediment that passed through that first Baja style filter.

When fuel quality is in doubt I use cone shaped paper coffee filters inside the funnel.

I guess I have just been lucky, but never in my life have I ever gotten bad fuel, not bought anyway, I have of course found water in fuel in a can down at the barn etc., but I have never bought contaminated fuel.

Assuming it’s filtered like it’s supposed to, I don’t even know how you could. Obviously I guess some remove or never install the filters?

I do though go out of my way to buy fuel from sellers that sell a lot of it, bu that’s to get “fresh” fuel, but I guess that means clean fuel too?

It was a first for us too, but that was definitely the problem.

Did you see the picture below on the Bahamas Cruising and Sailing Facebook page of the diesel from the Shell station in Georgetown? The bottom of our jerry jugs have a similar sediment now where they didn't before, but not as thick obviously.

I’ve not, and I did buy fuel there and top off the boat. I guess I got lucky.
That looks like rust in water, it’s not water?

My shaker fill hose is just clear vinyl, I believe I would have seen the color change, or hope so anyway.

Some months are cheaper than others.

That was the introductory Prime rate (we had cancelled it while we were in the Bahamas). Now it’s the regular $12.99/month. I’m still undecided as to whether it’s worth it.
