My Idylle 15.5 (51') over the 12 years that we lived aboard with watermaker that I bought second hand at Sailorman in FLL came out to 22,000 average per year. No solar panels nor wind generator nor dinghy davits. Carried the dinghy on the foredeck. I installed an 8.5 kw generator and could make ice. We don't drink beer just rum and wine. It includes insurance and haul out every other year and a new set of sails, roller furler and a new transmission. We did Bahamas when sailing fro Trinidad to Maine. With a freezer we could fill it up and we carried enough food for a couple of months.

I'm just wondering, your food cost is pretty high, and this might be a stupid question, but how is the fishing there, and if it is good, why not just supplement diet with fresh fish a couple times a week?

I think his food cost is high, cause they are enjoying themselves, I don't think he is trying to pinch pennies and that his costs are to illustrate what it cost if one isn't having to lived on a tight budget.
Fishing wise, you need maybe to be a little concerned with this if not in deep water

I converted to fresh water flush and have not looked back, it is in my opinion a lot nicer. If you are using too much water or maybe you need to conserve cause the watermaker is down, just take a bucket of salt water and flush with that
However the watermaker will come in a few months, I don't have time to install yet.
