Re: Month 51 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat

Thank you for sharing, it opened my eyes. I need to reduce our budget and spending.

Thanks for this interesting info. What kind of boat insurance do you have —seems very inexpensive compared to what we pay for our 44’ steel ketch. ?

Awesome info... thank you!

Just, 2 questions.

(1) Who is this admiral everyone speaks of?
(2) Are you concerned about the trendline of YoY (Year Over Year) expenses going from $43-44k to $48k to $57k? I'm guessing it will plateau around $61-63k with a comfortable lifestyle.

YES! I can not continue this trend. I think I have a lot of big $$$ items behind me now. But the budget breakers the last couple of years have been medical related and boat maintenance and upgrades. I can do nothing but hope for medical. Still a headsail and rigging replacement needed in future. This factors into the mysterious “not counting” people do when reporting if they 1-just don’t count it, 2-did as refit before leaving and pretend the cost never happened

I currently have full insurance with a value of $115k. I am reducing it to $75k next month and may drop to liability over next year as the boat is now 20 years old and the insurance co it starting to jack me over.
