Re: Month 37 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat
Hi Sailor Boy.
I also find this helpful. My husband and I just completed a 14 month long live aboard stint on our boat in the souther Caribbean. Our boat maintenance expenses were much higher than we had anticipated. In fact, overall everything seemed to turn out more than we had budgeted...except rum and beer. It’s helpful to compare areas of your actual expenses to see how we compare...As we are planning for our next stay but might not be able to afford as long a period.
Again thanks for posting.

not in this case as all I care is if there are enough "yes" votes and wouldn't care about no votes even if that choice was available

Yes
Im in the Med now having left the UK last August on a Bavaria 37.
We're taking a very slow boat to Greece, no hurry no plans. We have used a lot of marinas and have had the engine on about 80% of the time.
Although we haven't kept details of what we spent on what we have gone through around £40,000 in our first year.
So far the second year is coming at less.

I hope so as that was $51,000 on the first year and I now feel like a cheap frugal cruiser

Around £10,000 of that was work that needed doing to the boat.
Standing rigging re-done, saildrive seal replaced, steering housing and bearing replaced, through hulls replaced etc.
I'm expecting it to be around £30,000 per year over here.
It would have been a lot cheaper if the £ hadn't screwed itself with the €

Hello do you have a spreadsheet or something similar that shows your 37 month expenses? It would be great to see your highs, lows avgs, etc
Thanks

Re: Month 37 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat
I voted 'YES'. You provide an important 'frame of reference' so that those who 'spend differently' can see how much higher or lower their expenses are. The process of comparison is fun and useful, thanks for doing the work of establishing a baseline. Best wishes, I hope your wife has a speedy and total recovery.

Re: Month 37 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat
I certainly vote YES for teh simple reason that I am very new to this forum and am planning on joining the cruising community when I retire in a couple of years. Your information helps me understand the financial side of things a bit more. More importantly, it brings up questions in my own mind that I need to answer before I start my adventure. For a newbie it is extremely valuable. Thanks for putting it out there.
