You also posted this on a Saturday in May. Boaters north of the Mason-Dixon are not looking at their computers right now. They're either in the yard (like me), or out sailing (like me in OPB's).

We just bought plane/train/bus tickets to visit family next month. I shall console myself by categorizing it as “not counting.” After all, it’s not cruising related, right? So we must not have spent it!

Hmmmm....
'Food, soda, alcohol, clothing, sundries - $ 736.23
....
Dining and drinking out - $ 627.39
I think we need a slightly better breakdown of costs here...... you could be living on pot noodles and Black Label ... or ... like me... lobster and a simple aperitif
Made that lobster bit up... only lobster in Chile is in the Juan Fernandez and I refuse to eat frozen chinese prawns... even when thawed and cooked....

I think it IS part of cruising. But then I call my threads "cost of cruising and living on a boat" and let others argue about whether stuff like vacations count.
Have a good trip!

I think that works out to:
Food - $ $376.11, soda - $101.23, beer - $153.76, clothing etc. - $ whatever is left
Dining out:
Food - $ 320, drinks - $307.23
I'm just guessing, but I bet that's not far off

Ugh. I had a heat exchanger "pad" my expenses last month. Along with some other expenses I ended up going through my credit cards to ensure that someone hadn't pilfered my numbers. Good luck and for the record, please keep doing this. It is thought provoking even for those of us who are a little looser in our accounting.
Thanks!

Re: Month 32 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat
Serious inquiry.. I'm a relatively young man with an old family (started young). I'm looking at how to position myself to grow up into being a pirate one day.. Your budget seems perfect, full time vacation and keeping your hoat happy and reliable. Damn it's expensive looking though.. The more I see you guys post what you're spending cruising I'm thinking the RV may be a better option. Anyone out there living off ramen and hooch?
