Re: Month 3 Expenses & Costs of Cruising

I'm not worried about money.. At 56 I made enough to quit working and go cruising for pretty much till I'm 95. I do wonder why some people who can not do the same think they know how much o do it better.

Wow, good question Sailorboy1. Very impressive coming for you.

Some of us are supporting family members and ex-wives in their time of need due to life threatening medical problems (out of pocket) or maybe bad choices in life.

I could have retired at 50 or so if I decided to not help.

Besides that, I believe there is more to life than being on a boat 24/7. But don't misunderstand, I just left my boat 30 minutes ago and enjoy being on the water whenever I can. You know, the boat I paid $2,000 for that can easily sail wherever your $100,000 plus boat can

I'm hoping you will get a chance to learn a bit about life this time so you don't have to repeat it over and over before taking the next step

Side note, the exwife and son are located in a 2100 square foot home that we may soon buy. How much space do you have? I saw maybe 30 deer when I was over there a week or so ago. I may consider getting a bow or rifle again one day soon due to the deer overpopulation problem there

My son's dog Mitchell is "livin the dream" as the young navy guys like to say about their lives

And then there are those of us that were forced to retire before the age of 40 and I actually prefer being on a boat as much as I can . When I'm not actively sailing or doing my ten or so hrs a month work my body allows I'm usually fishing . I love fresh fish. And it helps my food dollars streach really far. But that's just for me. Don don't let the jealous ones get you in a bad mood. Enjoy every minute of your newfound freedom.

No one is jealous.

But if that makes you feel better I'm happy for you.

Some of us love our boats and sailing but other things as well

And then there of us who did all these support things and didn't let them be excuses. Some people do, some talk.

Just answering your boy's question. He was wanting to know why others of us aren't out cruising (anchored on the ICW or at some marina) like he is

How are you this evening being back on land for a while?

Yes we talk, workout, sail, fight with the dog, check on the deer, work on the yard, etc.

Then we get to argue cruising on CF which is a good thing. I have to argue points at work online without getting upset. CF is great practice for that

Good, thanks for asking.

I'm a bit tired though. I ran about 2 miles today, did 25 pushups, etc. Then down to the boat.

We had 20 degrees last week so I took all the sails off and the dodger since it appeared sailing may be over for a few months. We did have near 70 today though
