Month 25 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat
Under budget this month again and that makes 6 months in a row! It was the second lowest month ever and except for accounting of gift card use after last Christmas would have been the lowest ever. This month we traveled from Port Washington NY to Carolina Beach, NC.
Boat costs were low. All I bought was a bag of plastic zip ties and a subscription to Practical Sailor because I wanted to look up something (I’m thinking after that this was a waste on money and maybe I should have called it entertainment instead of a boat related cost).
Marina costs were for some moorings along the way, 3 days in a marina during TS Michael, and couple of dinghy dock fees.
Did grocery, beer and supply runs as normal. Dined out less than normal despite our attempts and wants.
The total expenses were $ 2,254.85. Cost breakdown as follows for planners and hecklers:
Food, soda, alcohol, clothing, sundries - $ 894.71
Boat upgrades, repairs, maintenance - $ 39
Fuel (diesel, gas, propane) - $ 304.26
Dining out - $ 496.39
Entertainment - $ 57.35
Communication, storage, shipping - $ 99.22
Fees – $ -32.14
Marina - $ 335.85
Electric - $ 18
Medical - $ 20.19
Transportation - $ 22.02

Another good month. Good on ya! Thanks for continuing to post. The real world experience is helping us plan and our departure date is coming up sooner than we might think.

As long as you don't try to live all rich, like me, you could leave now

Oh, t'were it only true, brother! Got one more young 'un to kick out get through high school (this year) and a house to sell. Still... two years, four months, twenty days until official retirement. We won't be living all richy-rich, but we'll be living our dream.

Yes, yes, yes. Only a few more years until retirement. Kids are on their own(and not asking for money!) the dream is coming into reach!
This is all good info. Keep it coming!

6 months in a row. You are starting to make this look easy. $39 repairs that has got to be some kind of record!
Thanks for continuing to share SB.
PS: if I said something like "you must be cutting back on the calories" would that put me in the Heckler column?
Safe Travels!

don't be
It would be a big budget problem if I lost a lot of weight as I would have to replace the 3 pair of underwear and 1 pair of shorts that I wear. I guess I could get fewer underwear, but would have to do laundry more often than once every 3 weeks then.

Every three weeks??? Man, you waste a lot of water! Next you're going to tell us you shower every ten days or so, too?

It rains once in a while. When it does don’t be looking at my boat unless you’re into naked fat man singing in the rain.

New to the forum, is that for 2 people? i.e. food etc.
Looking to retire on my boat for a few years before I get too old, I turn 62 in April so just starting to plan on when.
