I don't do either really. If I paid cash for something I will put it into the spreadsheet for later. But that hardy happens because I use my credit card for anything that doesn't require cash. So at end of month I just go through the credit card statement and assign the charge to the categories I list. That's why they are what they are as I can generally tell which a statement charge falls into.

The hardest are Amazon charges as those could have been almost anything. So I have to look at my order history for them sometime.

I want to know how much I spend each month and in general what they were for. But I'm not going to get worried about it.

So last month worked out to about $100 per day. Have you ever figured an overall per day average?

Spent quite a few nights (and some days) in the Timeout pub. I lived in Searsport a decade ago before moving to NH. Back then, Hamilton Marine was a little store and Wayne Hamilton was the harbor master and mooring designer along with his store duties. Great area. We liked to go over to Holbrook Island by Castine and grab a mooring. We usually had the area to ourselves to watch the bald eagles and seals. Eggamoggin Reach is a great sail too. We are now in Kittery Maine if you are in the area.

Going back and reading the past posts - excellent resource.

Our numbers are skewed because I am still working and flying to my office in DC. So, a lot of expenses are being paid by my company. My boss is a jerk, but he lets me work this way (I run the company). Still, one day my partners will tire of my working style and tell me to sod off. My five year cruising kitty follows your (more or less) average and I would be happy to stop working. I don't expect that to happen, but the commute from the Virgin Island winter 2019/2020 will not be cheap.

I’m happy I have a recently purchased cold water (thick) wet suit. It saved my bacon after wrapping a line on my prop in a fiord on the kenai peninsula hundreds of miles from anywhere in AK last month.
Also have a scuba tank, 60’ of hose with regulator and weight belt if required.
Of the options i considered, it’s easier to store than a compressor.

Robinhood marina, piggs cove, knubble Bay are pretty good my mooring is in 43 '

Sailor many kudos for maintaining this log for the last 23 months. It has I am sure enlightened the majority of those contemplating full time cruising.

Your detailed information is very helpful. It's kind of you to take the time and share it. It's also helpful for us to get a handle on the unexpected expenses. I was impressed you could frugally get by in NE waters on this budget.

Except for marinas, costs in NE aren't really any different than anywhere else on the east coast.
