Month 13 for a middle-aged couple on a modest boat.
We just finished up our 13th month of cruising full-time on our Bristol 29.9.
This month we moved from Port Washington, NY to Annapolis, MD where we have settled in to work the boat shows (we thought it would be fun), after which we’ll start heading south in earnest.
Below is spending in September:
Groceries/Non-food Groceries/Alcohol: $584.06
Diesel/Gasoline: $30.13
Denatured alcohol for the Origo: $16.95
Medical: $121.00
Cell phones/data, iCloud storage, and Garmin inReach subscription: $87.74
Laundry: $15.50
Showers: $2.00
Amazon Prime: $12.99
Restaurants/Entertainment: $209.36
Uber: $21.84
New York Times subscription: $20.20
Non-owner auto liability insurance: $62.30 (one time payment for six months of coverage)
Marinas: $510 (three weeks in Annapolis, paid in advance)
Boat stuff: $189.29 (Aqua Maps, dinghy nav lights, starboard, tiller extension, dinghy line, stuff sack)
Clothing: $105
Subscriptions: $33.30
Random: $41 (hair cut, marina tips)
** We also bought a new-to-us dinghy for $500, but sold our old dinghy for $600 which covered the $500 plus the rental car and gas to pick up the dinghy. I decided not to include it in the monthly total since it was a wash. If we hadn't bought and sold in the same month, then I would have included it as an expense in the monthly numbers.
Total: $2,062.66
2019 monthly average to date: $3,383.92
2018 monthly average (September - December): $4,465.95
Monthly average since starting to cruise: $3,451.30
I hope this is helpful.

Re: Month 13 for a middle-aged couple on a modest boat.
What's the "Amazon Prime: $12.99"?
I buy stuff all the time with Prime, but the costs aren't "Amazon Prime" it's for some other category.
Nice frugal month, lets see how you make it through the boat shows as it sounds you have the "buy" itch.
Also, need to up that alcohol item. I'm sure one of you could manage to get in 2-3 drinks in while that wuzzy heart problem sips down his 1 (you're going to die from something anyway ).

Cost of Amazon Prime membership is either $119 a yr, or $12.99 a month.

awww, a fee
I use my daughters acct and pay my part of the fee in some complex rent reduction calculus math equation involving upper level astrophysics that also involve Netflix and Hulu

I thought you had the OK for the martini, but will definitely have to slip out the back behind the bushes for that cig (don't forget the breath mints and thoroughly wash your face and hands or face getting busted)

Just beer or wine, and that’s okay, after almost two years dry, an IPA sure tastes good after all that time.
Fair winds,

For anything I can get. She signs up for these things and then when I want to use I contribute to the cost. The method works in many directions as she watches HBO by using my brothers account.

If you smoke you can wash whatever you want to, it’s not getting rid of the smell in your clothes and your hair, plus the stench come literally from your lungs when you breathe out.

We're going to try to stay under control at the boat show, but it won't be easy! As for alcohol, after 18 months without any we are both cheap dates at this point.
