It's legal now but you are suppose to applying for something or other. It's posted on the bulletin board.

Re: Month 11 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat
Effective January 1, 2012 boaters wishing to stay aboard their vessels in Georgia waters more than the 30 calendar days per year can do so legally. As long as the boat owner obtains a permit issued by the Georgia State Department of Natural Resources and the vessel is docked at an approved marina with a certified pump-out system, everyone is happy. However, liveaboard vessels at anchor and mooring balls cannot take advantage of the new Rule.
That's the latest I know.
Brunswick Landing Marina advertises itself as a liveaboard's paradise. There are other GA marinas that allow liveaboards.

Re: Month 11 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat
Live aboard is such a politically charged name.
I was advised a couple of years ago by my Insurence company that I would not be living aboard, we would be on an extended cruise.
I believe to some live aboard means living in a derelict that may not be seaworthy, so if asked we are cruising.
Funny how some have such pre conceived notions

The term is "cruiser in transit". Pretty much what we are here. Not a problem till someone throws up a red flag! Just quietly dock your boat, and enjoy the neighborhood.....

Sure, why not? Sailorboy1 living on $1500.00/mo. or less at a marina? You can do it! I do it every month. Just saying it's pretty easy. My wife is a great cook, and I'd rather eat her food than a meal at a restaurant. I like to drink and smoke (gasp!), and still make it under $1500/month, including dockage. There isn't that much to spend money on, unless you go out of your way to do so. Don't buy stuff unless it's needed for the boat. I'll start my own thread next month, and we can compare....

The person who spends the least amount isn't necessarily the contest winner.

So true. Everyone who spends within their means and within their budget or planned spending is a winner.

I looked at the lowest month I've had the past 11 months and took out all dining out, entertainment, fuel (sitting at marina so no fuel costs), the cost of water and all the boat related costs.
That still was $1800 and only included $88 for marina costs.
If I do the same for this month it still is $1200 not counting the marina. So if we don't eat out this month, go to the movies or anything, don't do any boat work needing supplies and pay for marina (no electric) it will about $1800.
So my wife and I are $1200/mo cruisers who maintain their boat, eat out sometimes, go to the movies a few times a month, buy some Kindle books, stay in the marina sometimes, and try to see a few sights along the way.
I post the monthly break down so people can use real numbers to decide how/what they will do different. I tried for the 8 years before leaving to find a similar breakdown I could use and in the end I guessed.
BTW I started a "Cruise on $5000/mo" years ago as joke and in general people responded that that was a life of luxury budget. Well it turns out that $5k/mo would be us if we stayed in transient marinas more and don't feel we are living in luxury.

It was a valid post and thread related and didn't need to be deleted. I look forward to your breakdown of cost next month.

I've spoken to a few that spend that. It's not hard to get there.
Go with a larger more technologically advanced boat, add some age into it where you just can't do the grunt work like you used to, a little medical issues requiring a flight home once or twice to see the Dr., maybe the realization of you will never be this way again, so be sure to do some more land excursions and your there.
I have never had any trouble spending money that was available, it's staying within what is that can be tough.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
I just remembered I sold my Bahamas charts last month to another cruiser at the marina. This goes into the boat costs category.
So we stayed under our budget for the month. We are budget planning masters!
