Well, we have a captain friend who is bringing a boat south and Charleston was in his plans but he couldn't find dockage there. Apparent marinas are full for the Eclipse. I never would have thought of it. I imagine anchorages crowded as well then.

Likely, but off the coast ought to be fine

I know your being sarcastic, but many marinas if you have a washing machine, won't let you use it. Water quality is often given as the reason.
Georgia in particular goes way overboard worrying about the water quality. In my opinion water quality was used as an excuse to ban living aboard in the State, and many are still flying that flag.

I'm surprised anyone would actually believe this? Does that also mean you can't wash your boat, wash your car or take a shower in Georgia?
They're just trying to force you to use the coin operated laundry which empties into the same ocean.

This lost context because it appears there was a post deleted. So disregard or just assume I was calling myself an ass, which is a reasonable assumption

No worries here. Free laundry in the air conditioned yacht club, while watching satellite TV and drinking free beer. I've seen an alarming number of GUYS voluntarily doing their laundry here. Go figure...
I'm not too concerned with grey water here, but not sure why we'd want to make life more difficult for the manatees, rays, fish, and sea turtles that are fairly abundant here in our river.
Sorry for more off-topic drift in your thread sailorboy! PS-there is some fried equipment on the dock 6 wifi. I just found it this morning (on my day off). I'm going to see if we have backup parts.

I don't know how one defines "way overboard", but water quality, to me, is very important.

This is very true. You can get away with fewer amenities and have a wider geographical range of marinas to choose from if you have a car.
We are lucky that wherever we cruise we always get handed keys and are told to use their car as much as we need.
Since we will be here in key west for a long time (maybe a year or so) we opted to buy a pair of cheap used scooters. No insurance and we use maybe $1.50 a week in gas each.
After a year, we will be able to sell them for almost what we paid for them!
How many people are you feeding?
How do you get such cheap health costs?

$500 less I probably would eat out less and buy cheaper food
$1000 more I would sightsee more because I could get rental cars more often

There's 2 of us. But currently we are in driving range of a daughter and mother in law and that adds food and dining some.
We have an Obamacare Care plan getting the max subsidy. We took an early withdraw from a 401k to get the qualifying income.

Look up your history of Georgia and living aboard a boat in that State.
Until recently it was illegal to live on a boat in Ga. Water quality concerns was the reason given, but it's pretty widely known that in fact it was " those people" that were living aboard boats that were not wanted, it wasn't really water quality.
I believe it is still illegal to stay on a boat in Ga for more than 90 days in one year, a waiver can be requested to extend that by some amount, but believe that common sense likely prevails now more than anything. I'm not stating those as facts, just as a long term Ga resident it's from memory. You cannot live aboard in lake Lanier in your house sized house boat, in a marina with pump out facilities for example. Although there are some house boats there that are bigger than many houses.
However I don't know how friendly Ga is for anchor outs, I assume not friendly at all?
On edit, I think that it is still illegal to live aboard in Ga.
