Mediterranean cruising

Hi,

Has anybody got any extended live aboard history (say more than two months) in the Ionian Islands (or others), Greece and just which are the best harbours and marinas for value, service, amenities, wintering and on what size of boat. Would you advise that size of boat or smaller or larger.

I am not a liveaboard but have been cruising the Ionian islands for the past three summers for a month to six weeks at a time on our yacht Tasman a Benetteau 405. In the course of this we have met liveaboards in Corfu and Levkas Marinas. Both venues are very good though rather costly for overnighting. The liveaboard people, however, say that they get a very good deal.

Can anyone recommend cost effective out of the water layovers in Greece. We currently leave our boat in the Cleopatra Marina at Preveza in the Ionian but plan to move further east next summer. Provisionally we are looking at Kalamata on the southern tip of the Peliponese peninsula, but would prefer something further east. Richard Cluver
