Marina with easy Communte to Bronx and NYC

Hi Im looking for options to liveaboard or stayaboard a lot this summer with easy transportation to the bronx and nyc. I would like something where i can walk to a bus or train if possible. I would also like to walk to restaurants that aren't to expensive for a drink. And a marina that is not to expensive; I spent the winter at liberty landing marina and enjoyed my stay but its a bit expensive for the summer so I was wondering if I could find something a little cheaper. Any suggestions would be great! My boat is 33 feet. Thanks!

79th street boat basin

There are also several marinas in the bronx

Or, look for places in deep Jersey that have a ferry route and/or nj transit bus to ny

Anywhere in ct (Milford) and take the metro north directly into the bx

Re: marina with easy communte to bronx and nyc

Thanks so much for the quick reply!!

79 st boat basin has a waiting list so Ive been told

Im looking at marians in the bronx. Do you know if one is better then the other....security, helpful marina staff, easy access to transportation, and restaurants?

Im weary about conneticut cause it quite far from friends and family.

i was hoping that someone at a marina more toward upstate new york, maybe near the Tapanzee bridge or toward sandy hook could comment on their experiences on their marina and let me know a little inside information on how they feel (good and bad} and why they chose that marina.

Pls any suggestions would be welcome!!

City Island has several marinas (in the bronx). Don't discount CT/New Rochelle, etc. Your trip into the Bronx from CT would me twice as fast as a trip from Sandy Hook, just because of the way the public transportation is laid out. Have a very good look at your planned route from the boat to the Bronx in any location.

Sorry I don't have a specific marina to suggest, but they are all expensive and all about the same. Liberty Landing is one of the best and most convenient, though also a little more expensive. You will find none are inexpensive in the summer, unless you are looking to leave the boat on the hard.

And yes. Huge waiting lists, even at some marinas.

Try asking around at Port Liberty - a condo development in Jersey City, South of Liberty State park. I know a guy that lives there. There are tons of unused slips and they are owned by condo residents who might be inclined to rent one out, assuming you are nice n yachty looking.

Don't know much about them but there are a few marinas in Staten Island.

Thanks for the inputs! ! Stilll researching marinas! Clock is ticking Im going to have to make a decision soon or sign the summer contract here in Jersey City.

Now I think its going to be somewhere near the Tapanzee Bridge.

Thats Upstate ny to me a city girl... At least the summers will be a little cooler.

Hands down, though seemingly too late for the OP, IGY's Newport Marina in Jersey City. It's one block to the PATH station for a 10-15 minute ride to Manhattan. VERY close to all shopping, light rail, tons of restaurants within a few blocks, a shopping mall, Home Depot. I live here and couldn't be happier with the transportation options. All facilities at the marina, great staff, relatively inexpensive. Can be "rolly" in the outer basin if N/S orientation. E/W is better. All boats are in calm inner marina after the summer season.

My son lived at Newport for 2 years. One year on a Formosa 41, one year on an Albin Vega.

I'll bet we've talked.

There are livaboard marinas in New Rochelle. That'd be my best recommendation.
