Re: Looking around for a live aboard...no rush

I have a 35' Pearson I'll sell for $12000 in key West, looks good, universal diesel runs great and sails great, ready to go. Just bought a much larger fixer upper so I've priced it to sell quickly

30 to 35?
Having lived short term on boats that size I don't know how you can do it.

It's easy. Did it on a smallish 33 footer, for about nineteen years, at marinas, at anchor, cruising, working, whatever. OF course, sailors are probably more able to do this!

Hpeer, I’d like to get some info on the trawler.

I have had sailing boats for over 30 years and a powered vessel for only 3.

I could have done it , I just chose not to punish myself by doing it.

Re: Looking around for a live aboard...no rush

Well, since you noted “anywhere” take a look up here in Minnesota. We have it all. Hot for us in the summer high 80-90’s for a couple months tapering off. Then cool fall, and freezing azz cold -20-30 f winter for. 3-4 months. This year no spring, drenching rain, sleet, snow. Then humongous flood. This year the longest duration flood in recorded history. Currently on third crest.

Nice laid back marina. Big city is a few mile away but food, gas and other stores near by. Nice down to earth people. Well weathered, LOL I’m probably the oldest by ten years of the group.

I think there are about two dozen live aboards maybe more. It takes extra care to live on the water here. The Mississippi is not your friend....ever. Navigating bigger boats takes care. You really need to know the channel markers and give way to the barge traffic. There are numerous lock and dams that add to cruising fun. Lots of river side dining and parks. You will need a vehicle, winter driving is easier with a 4wd, don’t get taken in by fwd only. Trucks rule by far. Cost of living is average to higher as you like.
