Cheaper? ..... maybe not. Some
marinas have metered electricity, but a flat rate is common. We most often pay a fee for a 30 amp connection without metering. It is also common to hear of people doing well in the Caribbean,
Bahamas or many other places anchored out where your vessel sits facing into the
wind. That's far different from tucked into a slip without the air wafting into your forward
hatch. Also, check the
weather data. The average daytime summer temperature is about 10*F higher in Louisianna than in the Caribbean!
