Livaaboard - Perth & environs, Western Australia

Does anyone know of anywhere you can live aboard your vessel in Perth, WA. I was looking for a Marina berth, enquired of the new Coogee Marina but no go. I am on a 44ft cat with 76ft mast so up river is no good. So now to ...... suggestions!

Hi we are from WA as well, I have a 40ft Cat a Port Bouvard.
But the bridge is only raed to 20m I did the calc on your through air
too big. 23m. I can only suggest a swing mooring down at Mangles Bay if that's any help. Or you maybe able to look at the Mandurah Marina. Not sure what they have left. Mandurah Ocean Marina

Hope this helps

Live aboard is banned in the river and I think (but don't know) on any registered mooring in WA. Doesn't stop it happening but they are pretty strong on enforcing it in the river.

Good luck with your search.

Marina's on the coast are allowed to allocate up to 6% of their boat pens for live-a-boards, but it still takes an application and permit (and additional monthly fees). If you are a visitor from out of state their are some special rules that make it easier for a season. A live-a-board here is someone who sleeps on their boat more than six nights per month. There was someone on the forum a while back who knew of all convenient anchoring spots - dig a bit here and you might be able to contact him for the local knowledge. It's extremely hard to get a pen closer to Perth than Mandurah or Mindarie anyway. Port Geographe could probably accommodate you.
