Re: Laying out a plan to sail off!

Having lurked on this site for some time, finally purchased a S/V last week and having sailed quite a bit when I was younger I was all "lets go honey"!!
Then the realization of just how much we had to learn. WOW. Not only the sailing advances that have been made in the years since I sailed but the electronics, the electrical, the refrigeration, transmissions and motor etc. etc.
Start studying now then get ready to learn a lot more once you get on your boat.

Sofa King Fishy, thanks for suggesting OPO. Their site is very interesting. I reached out to them and it sounds like May will be the next opportunity for a Swan trip.

SV Coronado, thank you for those two links. I will listen to a few of the videos and see what I think!

Not to say I can't be patient, but any recommendations on ways to get passage experience before next May?

Re: Laying out a plan to sail off!

Hang around your local yacht club that has cruising boats and you’ll often find people looking for crew for a delivery. Let the boating office know and they might be able to connect you.

Also ask the instructors on your courses as they’re often well connected to the local boating community.
