Is their such a thing as V Berth Fitted Sheets?

Because of the shape of V Berths I'm wondering if their is such a thing as V Berth fitted sheets or bedding commercially available on line?

(i) online ($-$$) , or (ii) made to order by local boat upolstery/fabrics specialty shops ($$$), (iii) made-to-order by non "boat" upholstery shops ($-$$). and (iv) a friend with sewing machine and experstise (<=$)

online, Canada example: https://customboatbedding.com/

Re: Is their such a thing as V Berth Fitted Sheets?

Hello Tigue,
I do not have any yet, I am still making cushions and covers for mine.
Just searching Google for 'v berth sheets'
https://www.quahogbaybedding.com/pro...g/boat-sheets/

When I finish my upholstery I will probably do this, to get the right size and save money:
Not Quite Seasoned, but Very Well Salted: Making V-Berth Sheets

Re: Is their such a thing as V Berth Fitted Sheets?

@ Tigue,

I have made my own for years, made from regular sheets. Take cushions ashore to a clean lawn or large picnic table. Cover the cushions [equal overlaps]* with flat sheet in chosen color and large enough size. (My previous boat required a King Size flat sheet due to excess length and width). Pin the corners to fit: * 10 inches overlap is ideal, more does no harm. For the top sheet, I have used the lightest grade of bungee cord, or 3mm "string" to gather the bottom. You can get a little fancy with the seams if you want: French seams or flat felled seams, but I just straight stitched most of ours, and then tight zigged, for "backup"--turns out I prefer to do a job only once, the first time. They last for years, if you use good sheet material. Dark colors dry faster than light ones, and prints help to hide the odd stain from when the bandaid comes off or whatever. I had a home sewing machine aboard, so I didn't have to hand sew them, but they could be done by hand.

Ann

We just used little fabric clips to hold the sheets around the mattress.

I didn't have a lot of luck pinning like that. My V berth isn't triangular. It's two pieces. The outboard edge of each is curved to match the curve of the hull, and the inboard edge is irregular, sort of a half an "A" on each side.

My idea, and it's worked OK so far, was to simply cut the whole middle of a king size fitted sheet out, leaving a ring of elastic and maybe 8" or so material. Then I trimmed the center section to fit the mattress, and sewed the elastic edge back on all around the now mattress-shaped middle.

Re: Is their such a thing as V Berth Fitted Sheets?

Simple solution to rectangular as well as irregular shaped bunks; tie knots in the corners. This also works for me in that i use queensize flat sheets on all my bunks, the single, the double, the weird shaped trapezoid. It may be that in your v berth you can use 2 twin sheets for the 2 sides and a smaller piece of cotton fabric for the insert, like a sarong, but flat fabric/ flat sheets work wonderfully once you figure out where to tie the knots.
