CFR,

Each boat has its pluses and minuses... was told the large salon was an issue with blue water. eh... for me, I am taking the time to fix things like the lazerette and propane locker with latches, floorboard latches, and such... If you look at the boat critically, and ask what ifs you find some things should be, must be or well would be nice... I am very happy with mine. Yes if I had an unlimited budget and money, an Amel, but if a frog had wings... Look at things like the rigging and chainplate issues, as well as how solid the hull and decks are...

Re: Irwin 52

Great boats. the deep draft is a best one. We love ours, but did have to replace all the chain plates- bolted on the outside, but through the steel web in the hull. Very strong now. Sailing in 30+ knots is a pleasure and comfortable.

We plan to go from Mazatlan (now) to Caribbean this season, and possibly over to the med.
