Internet Suggestions

My wife and I recently purchased a Lagoon 380 (our first boat). Our slip at the marina is a good distance from the marina office and the wifi signal is pretty week. Any advice/suggestions for us to get better wifi/internet access?

Re: Internet Suggestions

Best option is a cellular hotspot. Marina WiFi is notoriously bad.

There is an inexpensive product available online which we use for this situation.

It is a Bear Outdoor Extender. https://www.bearifi.com/products/bea...wi-fi-extender

It is a high power directional USB WiFi antenna which, by virtue of it unidirectionality, reduces multipath propagation (signals bouncing off masts, etc) and allows much better connection to Marina WiFi access points.

You hook it to your laptop computer and place it on deck pointed towards the A.P. It does not work for a phone or tablet.

We've gotten good WiFi performance up to 1/2 mile from the marina building.

We have also used it at anchor but of course as your boat rotates you have to redirect it.

If you are no longer able or willing to use a laptop this product will not suit you.
