I need a liveaboard marina

It looks like I might be moving to the Clearwater FL area soon for a new job. I will be working close to the Clearwater/St Pete Airport. Any marina recommendations? I would like to stay within 30 mins of my job.

Re: I need a liveaboard marina

I keep my boat at a live a board marina in Cape Canaveral
Over the years I considered moving boat too west coast which is a great boating community
I don't live aboard but I spend days of every week sleeping aboard then back too reality
Living in Orlando traffic sucks the life out of you driving too Clearwater areas which is great, so I leave at present location,

researched a number of marinas and hope this helps a little

Regatta Point
Dunedin
Geared for live a board , amities galore
South of Clearwater

Live a Board marinas are around but slim pickings.

There is also a marina that I don't recall name .
In Clearwater were Frenchies Jet skies is located,
Has a restaurant surrounded by bars & night life

Good luck in your search

Thumbs up Re: I need a liveaboard marina

Regatta point and twin dolphin marinas are south on the manatee river. They allow liveabourd but are at least a 45 minute drive. In downtown st pete the municipal Marina is great but usually has an extended waiting list. Maximo Marina off Boca Ciega bay is being renovated to cater to large yachts now owned by IGY. Gulfport municipal Marina is reasonable and about a 25 min drive from Clearwater airport. One small Marina nestled behind the Wendy's off Pasadena ave is Pasadena Marina. Really a nice place , not a party place, quiet safe nice pool and showers. Really friendly liveabourd community there. 25 to 30 min to Clearwater airport. I just left there, nothing but good things to say.

Anything up by Clearwater beach will be a longer drive and I don't know about liveabourd.
Good luck

Re: I need a liveaboard marina

It might be helpful to know what kind of boat you have.

Re: I need a liveaboard marina

Ask Gulfport Marina if they allow liveaboards. 30 min from PIE.

Re: I need a liveaboard marina

Do a Google Earth shot of St Pete/Clearwater airport. There is water right up to there property. If u have shallow draft, a dinghy, then you could anchor for free and row/walk to work. Spend your Marina money on solar.

Re: I need a liveaboard marina

Doesn't hurt to ask at the Gulfport Marina, but I did just that a little over a year ago and the answer was, no, no liveaboards.

Re: I need a liveaboard marina

Pasadena Marina is a well protected live aboard marina, close to the ICW (marker 38) and St Pete Beach. good people and pool. park close to your boat.

I don't think anchoring out by the airport is an option.

Re: I need a liveaboard marina

My brief experience is that most do not allow liveaboard. More like 3-4 days is alright.

I generally prefer solar, a dinghy, and not paying for mooring. Don't have to worry about neighbors and their drama. Will be more rocking of the boat though.

Re: I need a liveaboard marina

We keep our sail boat at Island Way Marina in Clearwater and own a documinium there that is currently rented out.

You have to own a slip to live there I believe.
