Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

Congratulations, Don! Aloha 34's have a great reputation and this one looks great. Paul Rosen has been with Annapolis boat sales for a long time.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Congrats! Hopefully next year we will be making a similar announcement. Still got another year of getting the businesses set up to survive without us for 4 months a year...then it will become 6 months a year...then who knows!

Really happy for you, especially watching you on CF getting ready for this day!

Oh sweet boat, nicely set up for cruising too. If the survey is good then its a keeper looks like. Good luck...

Sorry your in the wrong ocean, would have liked to take you , and your S.O., for a ride. I sent the check! It will be mine by December 1st!

I wonder how many people bought a boat they hadn't seen because they were afraid someone else would buy it.

As for pictures: Aloha 34 "Kaleo"
With a 30 hp engine she should burn about 3/4 gallon/hour, so you should be able to motor about 30 hours + . What's the issue? It's a sailboat first and foremost. Congrats and best of luck.

Ya, that's a thought, too. But I will be going up and down the ICW more than a few times, extending the range could be a good thing. Water is not much of a problem with a 20gph water maker.

I CAN"T WAIT!!! I told my boss that instead of Dec 1st I will be leaving Oct. 28th. I can't buy until the house closes, but I can live there until then!!! I can sand and paint the bottom, do other things. I want that boat!!!

Wow, I didn't know Matt and Christie had decided to give up cruising. Guess I need to check in more often.

Nice choice Don. The boat should be well outfitted.

Hi Don:

Congrats on the big plunge. She is one beauty of a Canadian built boat, I've not seen such shiny sinks in all my searching!<grin>

Outfitted perfectly for you, it sure looks like there will be very few issues from the survey. What a find, and a what a great price! Good things come along to good people!

Enjoy, and fair winds.

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

Keith, Thanks for the thoughts. Spent some time on your blog, very nice. I like your boat, too. Looks like a nice home. I didn't know the west coast of Sumatra had such good surf.

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

Don, it is the happiest time when you have found "that boat", especially when you have not paid the full amount for it!!

Later, much of the gloss comes off the new aquisition, and you need deep pockets!!

But, you cannot take your money with you when you die and the cruising life is such a joy!! Spend you time and money on something you really have strived hard for and you will be rewarded with wonderful memories and such huge personal growth that it is almost unbelievable?

West coast of Sumatra, and the offshore islands have fabulous surf from June to November, lots of swell that has come up all the way from the roaring 40's and so is nice and clean, and the conditions are so often really glassy, lots of right handers and best of all? On many of the islands, no one else there, a few other cruisers/surfers and 2 charter boats. No French officials or other jumped up beaurocrats, just the good old Indonesians, who dont worry about anything and every problem has a solution of just a few more hundred thousand rupiahs!! No cyclones, only 6 days out from Langkawi.

All the best from Keith.

ps, just a 57 yo compatriot of yours join me as crew for the last 6 weeks of the cruise, from SF in California. Flew in from Paris to Nias today, loves it!!

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

Don,

Congratulations on an excellent boat and the start of full time cruising! We are envious, as we are about 2 years behind you to do the same.
