Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

Yes, a river barge. Like they have in the canals of Europe. 50' long, shallow draft (<1.5', but I would add a sideboard skeg to hold her in a cross wind.), low overhead (get through most bridges without needing to open), wide beam, lots of space inside, small diesel to push it along at 8 knts. And, done right, it looks cool. No sails, no crap topside, you can see from the helm to the bow, if not you can make a remote steering station. Only moving parts are the engine and the steering gear. Lots of storage room, you can put in a full shower and bath, full kitchen, living room and fireplace. For going up and down the ICW at my pace I can't think of a better boat.

Hey Don, 'knocked on Nomad at about 8:30 this morning, but you were away. Nancie and I docked at Osprey's for some diesel. We're at Dock Holidays for the night and off early to Carolina Beach State Park tomorrow. Maybe we'll catch you southbound in October,- Stewart

Sorry I missed you, staying at the girl friends house. I will be going south about November or earlier.

I'm going to Stewart/Port St. Lucy area this winter. My daughter just moved there from North (GD) Dakota, haven't seen her and the grand-kids in a while.

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

Where are you now, Don? No updates on your blog that I see.

We are at Brunswick Landing Marina in Georgia. What are your plans? It would be great to meet up one day soon. Maybe you want to make a trip over to the Exumas? Nomad (Kaleo) knows her way!

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

I am in Myrtle Beach and will be heading south Sept. 1st. Brunswick, GA is my stop about 5 days later. If you're still there I'll see if I can find you. Just have a few more things to do and I'll be ready to go. Heading to Port St Lucy this year.

The plan right now is inside to Charleston (Two days from here, one night on the hook in the North Santee River), outside to Hilton Head, then outside to Brunswick, but I might go to Jekyll Island Marina. Then outside again to Jacksonville. Inside from there on.

Re: I Have Pulled the Trigger !

I have spent the summer (since May) in Myrtle Beach, lazing in the sun, sitting on the beach. Tomorrow, Sept 1st, I will depart for Florida. My blog will again be replete with the day to day action I will encounter plying the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean while I travel to Port St. Lucy. I should reach Port St Lucy about half past October since I want to spend some time in Daytona visiting with friends. My daughter, Kim, and her husband just moved to Port St Lucy so it will be fun seeing them and the grandkids.
The last two weeks have been hectic getting ready to go. I cleaned everything, made sure everything was OK, engine, transmission, etc. Stocked up the refrigerator and larder. Today I am just catching the last of the preparations and making some reservations for stops along the way.
Just now the stops are Isle Of Palms, Hilton Head, Jekyll Island, Atlantic Beach (near Jacksonville), St. Augustine, and Daytona. I’ll solidify the rest while in Daytona. There will be a number of nights on the hook, and a number of days outside. The longest day will be from Hilton Head to Brunswick Harbor (GA) where we will anchor before going into Jekyll Island for a couple of days rest.
