Re: How do I quiet a squeaky fender?

Ann...as soon as Fog lifts an tide is out, I'll go measure.

As to winds, we experience constant winds with some varying to 20kts occasions to 40, not a rarity.

Recently we had a Tornado pass very close by, I lost a tree, with their high winds, the tide was flooding against the river current as well. The PVC held up flawless.

My "avatar " photo is my boat at my dock. It is similar to photo in Post 71.
My pilings on the dock side do not protrude out past the walking deck making it necessary to use my boards. I could depend on my "rub rail" but no need to wear it out. The PVC was well worth the expense.

I hope this helps.

Life is good if you Keepa Smilin ....😊

What keeps the boat from spinning around the piling?

It is what it is.
There is a dock but the pilings holding the dock are on the outside so your boat rests against one or more (usually) wooden pilings. A vertical fender does no good and one placed horizontally falls out of place when the boat moves. A fender board rides against the piling(s) and fenders placed between it and the boat protect the boat.

So that's your problem ! Allow Uncle Donald, who knows about these things, to reveal all.

Re: How do I quiet a squeaky fender?

I have so many things to learn. I can barely tack and gybe. I have a beautiful old boat that has been through the eye of a hurricane. She is in a book. That little nugget of info I found out after I bought her. You can see her here http://m.yachtworld.com/mobile/boats...s#.VBr0B7ywJkU

This is nothing like I imagined as I went home to my empty apartment night after night. The first 3 months have been challenging. 2 months ago I knew nothing about boats, other than I lived on one. Today, I know all about the diesel heater and the fuel system that feeds it.

Tomorrow? Who knows. Bring it. I am up for the challenge.

It's far far better than I imagined.

Gotta go for now, gang.
