Here come winter

Itís that time again in the northern hemisphere. Winter is bearing down on us up here in Maine.
This is our fifth winter aboard and every year gets a bit better. Some of the best strategies are lining the v berth with foil insulation and sealing all hatches and port lites with clear bubble wrap.
We love the Envi electric heater. It only draws 450 watts and bolts securely to a bulkhead taking up vary little room. It easily keeps the boat from freezing up. If itís too cold while we are aboard, we fire up the Wallas diesel heater which warms us up in minutes .
The last thing to do is a small shrink wrapped enclosure over the cockpit and we are ready for all Mother Nature throws at us.

Re: Here come winter

I’ve pulled out a thicker sheet to cover myself at night. My morning swims
followed by a freshwater hot shower feel especially good. Earlier in late summer, it was like diving into a bathtub.
