Hair and body wash

I am looking for a good hair and body wash that can be purchased in gallon refills. We currently use Suave but it only comes in small bottles and I would like to maximize storage and reduce waste.

We are not big on heavy scents so something that washes off clean and works decent in saltwater would be best.

Would Dr. Bonner's fit the description? I don't know if it comes in gallon sizes, but it works reasonably well in salt water.

I love doctor bronner's but it doesn't lather or wash off well in salt water.

I've been on the hunt for an internationally available soap that does but so far all I can find is Dawn. The plus side is that at least here the weather is so hot you're not going to get dry skin from using Dawn.

My bad, I thought I heard someone say Dr Bonner's worked well with salt water. I think I could save enough fresh water for at least a once a week fresh water cleansing. That is why I hunt down squalls.

any castile soap will work in salt water. most castile soaps come in liquid and solid form. the liquid is able to be found in larger sizes--good luck in finding that for which you seek.

I love Dr Bronners and use it for a lot of applications but it does not work very well for hair/shampoo.
It is really hard to rinse out and makes hair (long hair) a super tangled mess that you cannot get a comb through.
Probably just fine for dreadlocks!

Joy dish detergent works well in salt water and we have used for the body but not shampoo. I have long hair. If I had like a crew cut then it would be fine.

We used Joy for a number of years, then discovered any dishwashing detergent would do. During this period my hair was about waist length. It cleans hair just fine. We always washed in salt water, but had a light fresh water rinse--about 1 c.

Once you're out there, you can ask other folks in your area what they're using.

This is what we do in Maine waters. Funny, not too many folks bathe in 65° water like we do ;-)

For ultra shinny hair, add a teaspoon of beer to your favorite shampoo prior to washing; it's chemistry, folks! Baby shampoo works well in salt water. SCUBA divers use it on their masks to prevent fogging under water; just a coating inside the mask on the glass surface, then rinse in the sea.

Gee 65 degree water seems down right tropical. The average water temp on the central California coast is 55 degrees.
The Japanese current circles from Japan up around the Aleutian Islands and then down the west coast. Almost the exact opposite of the east coasts Gulf Stream. BRRRR.

Joy dish washing liquid is the only thing you need. Not only does it work on cleaning the dishes it makes a great shampoo and lathers in saltwater. I use it after a swim in the cockpit and it really cleans and softens the hair. Try it and see.
On yeah I also use it to clean and lubricate the sail track!

Those big gallon containers of cheap hand soap you get in discount stores work great for pretty much anything!! Hair, body, clothes, floorboards, dogs etc...
