Re: Gift ideas for a liveaboard woman!
My favorite "me" item is the Kindle... not a fancy color one either. They weigh too much and suck battery power. Your run of the mill Kindle (or, if money is a bit more available) try a Paperwhite as it is backlit for viewing at night.
This is one item I LOVE and for those times at anchor, well, there's nothing like curling up with a good book. Or a couple hundred good ones. Most of the old ones are free! Newer books do cost, but for pure pleasure, I don't know anything that has netted me more pleasure of late.
I've already got the boat, anchor and chain (want more chain) but as you're prepping... I vote Kindle Paperwhite. And it will recharge off your 12-volt boat system.
Coffee maker that works off a burner (non-electric) if she's a caffeine addict is also a good choice.
Oh, and happy anniversary. All the best to you and your Better Half.

2.5kg capacity washing machine went down well on our boat.
Coffee machine is good if you make the coffee.
Tablet with navigation program on is another good one.

THIS^^ Oh hell yes.
I have a ceramic bread knife and it is the bee's knees. I use it to cut rope, hose, foam mattresses and I even use it to cut bread and alas once in a blue moon a finger, Ouch!. It does not rust and is very very sharp. That or boat /kayak shoes, and a nice fowl weather jacket is nice too. Warm clothing or clothing that wicks, drys quickly. A nice hat with a drawstring to keep it on the head.

Walmart and Harbor Freight both sell ceramic knives. I have 3 different sizes in the kitchen. Be careful, they are not forgiving! I am still too scared to use one for paring!

Re: Gift ideas for a liveaboard woman!
Thank you everyone for the great replies! Such great ideas here and they definitely sparked a few new ones for me. I think I'm going with the kindle, a headlamp, a waterproof backpack and one great idea was the inscribed item..however, instead of the locket, I'm having the longitude/latitude of a special spot of ours inscribed on a plaque along with a little quote from me about us...she'll be able to mount it in the boat. Thank you again!

We know this superstition also - she paid me although I won't mention how

Don't forget to have her sign up with BookBub. It is a free service that gives you a daily email about what books have become free or discounted. You create a profile for what kinds of books you read, from which service, and how much your ceiling is for price. I get 2-6 free books just about every day in preparation for cruising where there is no cell service or internet.

All I can think of is the WKRP in Cincinnati episode where the station runs a promotional stunt, dropping free turkeys from a helicopter- frozen turkeys. " Oh, the humanity!"
A good fowl weather jacket may have saved countless lives.

Visa card (like Capital One that charges no international fees).
Decent electronic device w/internet access for on-line shopping.
She will sort out the rest of it.
Trust me on that.
