Gibraltar - any info please

Hi, we are heading for Gibraltar and some of the information we are accessing is a little bit dated (especially in these days of Covid-19 and Brexit). I know there are a couple of marinas in Gib and one nearby in La Linea. We want to get some repair work done on our way through as well as picking up provisions for the next leg of our trip. We are going to need a rigger and also want to buy some new batteries (and maybe a marine electrician to ensure we get it right).
Any suggestions as to which marina and any known good tradesman/women - recommendations please. cheers.

Queensway is the better marina but very limited on spaces so book well ahead and arrive on time or they get shirty and you may well lose your spot.
Marina Bay by the airport is I believe doing major construction so check well ahead for a space, if any.
Its not the port it was for sailboats, no more boatyards etc, yes there are tradesmen but many drive in from up the coast in Spain.
Gib has turned into a tourist destination with casino's bar/restaurants, hotels and duty frees for income.
La Linea marina not a clue as I usually anchor off the beach when passing though.
Personally you would be better off doing another 180nm to Almerimar, cheap rates, 2 chandlers, ace marine engineer, sailmaker and rigger along with big travel lift. Excellent supermarket and plenty of places to eat and drink. English widely spoken.
PS. Top up your fuel tanks in Gib, right hand side at bottom of channel into Marina Bay.. No need to clear in but usually a few Spanish boats milling around in the queue for cheap diesel.

Re: Gibraltar - any info please

Concerning corona restrictions you better check ahead
Before being admitted to Gibraltar port you must fill out pre arrival forms and email to the port

https://www.gibraltar.gov.gi/maritime

Form Link is at the bottom of the Port authority page

As for dockage , last August I was not able to reserve a berth in the Any of the marinas

Gib is small and very busy

Only first come first serve

You should make some phone calls

Much better services and supplies in Portugal, Lagos, Portimao, Bruce's Faro. Alcaidesa Marine which is in La Linea just across the border from Gib has good services including South African rigger not so good on supplied but cheap rates.

Just left Gibraltar Bay yesterday(8/7/20).
Gibraltar is closed for business. Stay away.
Anyone arriving is subject to 14 day quarantine.
(If you want to see monkeys on the Rock- forget about it).
Your better chance is Spain coast. They less strict.
Check Algeciras, it is in Gibraltar bay.
Not sure what kind of marinas they have there.

Not sure that is entirely accurate. We are currently in Queensway Marina, Gibraltar, just phoned them up and they were happy for us to berth here - quite cheap as well. We've been up the Rock, seen the monkeys. We've had the riggers and a marine electrician in; both Chandlers are open and Business seems to be almost 'as usual'. Don't know about the 14 day quarantine - actually i do - there is no 14 day quarantine for visiting Gib. If you display symptoms then, like any country, you would be required to self isolate. Your temperature is taken at the border - if it is normal, and your paperwork is in order, you can come in.
