Getting Mail/Packages In Key West

I tried doing some searches on the different threads and got so many responses, but they were not relevant.

I will be taking my boat from Clearwater to KW for 4 weeks and be staying on the hook to save on marina fees. I need to find a way to be able to reliably receive packages (medication) while I am there.

If there is already a thread discussing this, please point me to this. If you can help out, I welcome the information you can provide me. I will most likely be mooring around the Stock Island area, although that is subject to change and will be making a trip to the Dry Tortugas as well.

But it is important to me that I find a reliable source to receive my packages, I am able to go and show my ID and retrieve them.

USPS still has general delivery to a local post office. They hold packages for 30days

I've had success calling my insurance company, telling them I'll be away on a boat all summer, and asking if I can get 4 months of medication in advance. If that's why you need the package delivery, maybe you can get enough to take with you.

Not so sure. A few years back (2020?) we had a box that would been returned to sender the day that it arrived at GD in a post office in a suburb south of Atlanta. We call the postmaster and inquired why and he said we did not make prior arrangements. We found out because we were tracking the package and were able to delegate someone to pick it up.

Surely there is a commercial mailbox place in downtown KW that will rent you a box by the month? Should be easy…. Many will accept packages on a one off basis as well, although that can get expensive if you need more than one or two.

Just have your health care provider submit the prescription to a Key West pharmacy. Even for controlled substances the only restriction is the prescriber has to be in the same or a contiguous state. For non-controlled substances the scrip can come from any US provider. I do this all the time for the past 30 years.

I’ve sent stuff to myself addressed like this example. For the record I have not done this in KW. But it does work in many many USPS locations. My experience is along the AT.
