Force 10 Stove

Just bought a new Force 10 Stove with oven and grill, just taken out of box and I'd say half the screws on both side panels of the stove are not done up tight they have about 3-4 mm left to go, would there be any reason for this?

Jiggling around during shipping has loosened them?

Force10 stoves are made on the other side of the earth from where you are, just about 60Km down the street from me. Your stove woulda been shipped halfway around the world and woulda sat in some chandler's warehouse for we don't know how long, and someone, somewhere along the way, may have monkeyed with it.

Don't look for problems where none exist. Either complain to the chandlers where you bought the stove and get a replacement, or just tighten up the loose screws and use the stove. Keep an eye on the screws for a while until you are satisfied that they won't loosen up.

If this stove burns propane, as it probably does, you really need to have a propane sniffer in the boat, not because the stove in itself is any kinda threat, but because the supply line and its associated fittings can be. Particularly if you have installed the stove yourself.

You'll be careful, of course, to have a lighter already lit and its flame next to the burner you wish to use before you open the gas valve for that burner. Unless the stove has piezoelectric igniters, of course. And also that you turn the burner off betimes. I'm sure that in Goldcoast sunshine it would sometimes be difficult to see the flame if there is not a pot on the burner.

I take it you already know that propane bottles have to live in a SEPARATE locker, vented overboard and not permitted to contain ANYTHING other than the propane bottle(s) and the solenoid shut off valve.

All the best

Re: Force 10 Stove

Hi, Jazzgtr,

When we got our Force 10, all the screws were home. The ones on the stove top are real little grunge collectors.

Either take it back to the supplier, or do up the screws and enjoy your new stove.

Ours is 3 yrs. or so old, now, and so far, has been trouble free.

Ann

PS. @ Trente Pieds, The stove does have piezo-electric igniters.
