Where do all the "Snowbirders" store their sailboats on the hard in Florida?

Glades boat storage. LaBelle. Just east of fort Myers . Stay out of Indian town on the other side of the lake, Had a rat dam near eat my boat to pieces and other bad experiences.

Rats are not unique to any one place in Florida. Boats stored on the hard need some wildlife security in Florida. Rats, raccoons, squirrels, mud-daubers, snakes, iguanas and more can homestead on an unattended boat in Florida.

I think the best measures are to secure all openings,- even some hardware cloth at some openings where other materials could be chewed through. In addition, it's wise to open some naphthalene packets inside to discourage intruders and prevent mold.

Also, some set-ups don't do well with the high volumes of rain and drains & scuppers potentially clogged with leaves.

Florida is a big state with a big coast line. All the places mentioned are possibilities. Also have places in the Keys, Tampa/St. Pete area, Panama City, and Pensacola. The inland places like La Belle and Indiantown are a little better protected from hurricanes than coastal areas. In terms of shear number Miami up to West Palm Beach on the East Coast has the largest number of boats on the hard; and probably the highest prices though the Keys can be expensive. Some folks also skip Florida and put their boats on the hard in the Bahamas.

I think these answers are for those that leave their boats on the hard in the summer while they are home in the north. During the northern winters they take their boats out of storage and cruise until spring. A large population follow this seasonal plan.
