FINALLY DONE

Well after three long years of trying to sell the house, while living aboard in another city, or country, it is DONE, we are officially "sailor trash", we own nothing on land!!!!!!
It seems like the longest three years of our lives. Diane said it was like having a three year long garage sale, when describing getting rid of ALL the stuff. even when the price was free, people still complain about a scratch or ding . And then satisfying all the official BS with the city was a PITA
But again it is a "done deal"

Congratulations ! !

In retrospect, would it have been worth while having a big garage sale one time only and "donating" everything else to charity or even a landfill for that matter? I ask because I loathe selling online/classified etc. due to the exact reasons you mentioned. If it's 25 cents people want it for 10 cents, if it's free, people want it delivered, if you deliver people want you to carry it in and set it up.....and so on.

To be honest I would be just as happy to set a match to my stuff, than to make a few $$$ over 6 months of that nonsense.

YES it would have made life much easier to just be done with it in one fell swoop!! Not living near the house did not help. We had to do it in stages! And being stubborn we insisted on still cruising for at least 4 months a year And I must agree about the fire thing, I told my neighbor " if it catches fire wait an hour to call the fire dept."

Lordy, yes! We're going through that now.

One person came by to pick up a nice computer desk/bookshelf--free!--and expected me to load it on her trailer for her and strap it down. Did that, that's not unreasonable. THEN! She came back an hour later to ask me to ride with her to pick up and load another free thing from somewhere else. Did not do that. Criminey, lady, you got a great piece of free furniture already...I'm happy to be rid of it, but you're not doing me some epic favor by taking it away. I coulda put it to the curb with less hassle.

Hey, since you just went through this, and surely picked up some expertise in the process, Come on over and do ours for us... Please...

We are considering going cruising, and I think our "stuff" is the biggest hindrance to our saying lets just do it.
