Favorite places in the Bahamas?

Great Guana Cay in the Abacos. Sailed into Fishers Bay in 1982 and was hooked.
I knew I had found what every sailor looks for, his own island. It was a home base for me to sail all the Bahamas down to the Turks & Caicos. I had sailed from Bermuda to South America for years prior to finding Guana Cay. Eventually bought land, built a house and made it home for 25 years. Loads of great memories and people in the Abacos.
Stop at Guana passing thru, it's all there, what the Bahamas is all about.

In Abacos, Man-o-War Cay. Interesting history, small museum, and a good boat yard.

Lots of wonderful spots in the Bahamas, but my favorite destination is still the Abacos. I just got back from a 9-night charter, 8 of those nights we had a bay if not an enter island to ourselves. Where else can you do that? There are of course quaint towns, resorts, and good snorkeling as well. I think there are more uninhabited anchorages in the Abacos than the Exuams, although the Exumas certainly have nicer winter weather.

When on my own boat, I like that the Abacos are just two easy day sails away from Forida, no overnight sailing required.

In the Exumas I like Allan's, Staniel Cay and gunk holing just north of Georgetown. Cambridge is nice, but I don't like the way current park rules tend to crowd so many boats there now on moorings.

I'm glad I visited Harbour Island, but don't care to return.
I liked Attwood Harbour on Acklins and Little Harbour on Long.

My favourite anchorage in the Exumas was Rudder Cay - check out the underwater sculpture. Surprised no one mentioned Black Point Settlement; everything you could want in a place to stop.
