Hi Hans,

I have not been on the emyr rally but have talked to a few people who have. They all loved it, with the only negative being that it moves fast. The 2009 rally is currently only open to boats that have been on a previous emyr. If they have extra space we will go. Otherwise maybe we will return to do the 2010 rally.

Jim

Hans: Welcome to the Med and Turkey. We were on the EMYR 2007, this past spring and loved it. We are based in Marmaris Turkey and joined the rally for most of the Turkish rally and onward. Yes it does move right along, but you do have time at each port to rest up. The day trips mean an early departure and mid to late afternoon arrival with an average distance of 50 - 60 nm. Once the rally heads to Cyprus, there are 9 overnights in a row. They are very easy for two people (we are two and had no problems). Then you have about 3-4 days at each port between these overnights.
What makes it seem so fast is at each port there are wonderful tours and plenty of socializing. The great benefit of the raly is the organization. At each port in different countries, the officials are waiting for us to arrive and there is (almost) one stop entries and clearances. The experience was vey worthwhile and we plan on doing it again in 2009. We highly recommend the rally and encourage anyone to join.

We're taking part in the 2010 EMYR after being a late acceptance and would love any info from previous participants, plus those planning to be on the 2010 Rally. Currently waiting to hear details of the programme as we only have previous year's info to work on.
