dutch sailing barge

i'd appreciate some advice:
i am shipping one or two 60-70ft x 13ft Dutch Sailing barges to St. Lawrence Seaway and looking to go down the Eerie Canal-Hudson to 79th St basin NYk city.
they are very much luxury live-aboard penthouses-on-water whilst are REAL boats.
can somebody PLEASE tell me what the conditions are for moorings around the city at the moment since every call i've made i get diff. answers regards "transients".
i've a home in NYk state as well as Europe.

It depends how close you want to be to Manhattan. If you're envisioning a kind of AirBnB luxury liveaboard idea with Manhattan skyline views, I'm afraid your mooring options are not good.

Can you give more details on what you're trying to do?

Edit: Also... are you specifically looking for moorings or is docking an option? There are much better options for docking near Manhattan.

The 79th street marina is good and conveniently located and probably take a 60ft boat, ours is 55 ft. Call and talk to them.

things might be more mellow and affordable over on the City Island side, though further from Manhattan.

But if shipping transatlantic, why not direct to NYC?

ok, plan is to moor-up one of the barges and rent out as short-term accom. the other will remain transient in and around nyc and upstate on the Hudson.
i realise the city seems to have a problem with permanent moorings (i'm not surprised by looking at some of the "houseboats") but this needs to along the lines of e.g. paris (arsenale bastille basin) or london (docklands) where you DO hold a permanent mooring BUT the boat is still used as such i.e. not just a liveaboard

I see. It's a nice trip.
The St. Ours and Champlain canals, accessed from Sorel-Tracy, are also pleasant, as is the lake, if your barge is small enough to fit in the locks.
