Hi Ya All! I unfortunately put about 5 litres of
diesel into one of my
water tanks (fibreglass tanks) 3 years ago and went on line for
advice. the best
advice was to super chlorinate the contaminated tank, flush it out, refill the tank and repeat the chlorination process, flush it our, refill and flush it out without the chlorine then if possible scrub it out with dishwashing detergent.
Luckily I have large
inspection ports and was able to lay
oil absorbent mat on the top of the
water before I began the chlorination process and that absorbed most of the
diesel floating on top of the water, after I'd cleaned out the tank (one of two 600lt tanks) , the water was as sweet as ever and remains so to this day.
