Central heating? Abundant electrical power? AV equipment? Full size showers? Separate fridge and freezer? Not decadence. I have no intention of spending half my life camping.

Dishwasher? Not decadence. Oops, I don't have a dishwasher - so mark that as "hardship".

I very much desire a dishwasher and I don't know why more yachts don't have them. Save a ton of water, and have much cleaner dishes. My next boat will have a dishwasher.
You are so right, my last boat had a twin draw dish washer, only 6 litres per wash every couple of days, only had 1500 litre tank so had to make it count. As for the op and decadence, also a 5 kg washing machine, 350 litre fridge freezer, 40 inch tv, lazy boy chairs, 1750 watts of solar etc...etc. my now boat, has a 50 litre freezer, ( no fridge ) 100w solar panel, hell, I don’t even have a stereo.

Methinks that if you had been around here for a while you would have recognised Atoll's sarcasm and tongue in cheek humour.

I wonder what others consider decadent on their boats.

I would say a clothes washer dryer is a decadence!

As for the ice, if you make it yourself from bottled water or water from tour RO watermaker, there is no way you will get sick!

As for the ice from dodgy bars in third world tropical countries, add enough rum and you should be ok!!!!

Re: Decadence

I see that some people’s idea of decadence is far above mine :-)

Re: Decadence

We are pretty spoiled so many things aren't as special as we have always had them. But two ago I hired a first mate for the season. Best year ever. Coffee ready at 6:00am, freshly speared fish for dinner, clean boat every day and a rum and coke ready when the work was done. That's pretty much the only luxury I'd like to add in the future - a really good crew person.

Re: Decadence

We just saw Orcas (killer whales) swim past our anchored boat.

We are sitting in cockpit enjoying the sunshine while sipping a craft dark ale that is brewed on this island (despite not much more than 100 inhabitants), a perfect compliment to homemade nibbles.

It is this type experience that is true decadence when cruising .
