Exclamation Crocs will kill you

Oeps

Here's What Podiatrists Think About Your Crocs

But so are flip flops or any other backless shoe...

So what are sailors in warm climates supposed to wear?

Barefoot, with sunscreen. Or, get the enclosed ones. Or, ignore them and do what you want. However, I don't think it did my feet any good to hike 10 mi. over slick muddy trails in flip-flops, so i guess there're good time for hiking boots, too.

A sailor with deformed toes? That is not right.

Re: Crocs will kill you

My wife has heel spurs and after spending a small fortune on doctors she discovered crocs. I have extremely wide feet and have to spend a fortune to get wide enough shoes. I used to get lots of ingrown toe nails because of my regular shoes. Got crocs and got rid of the toe nail problem. We use them all the time and have no more foot problems. You do have to be careful and replace them when the sole starts to get slick. I think the only things crocs kill is the podiatrist's business, hence his advice not to wear them.

I've been wearing croc flip flops for 8 years now. Had Plantar fasciitis for 8 months. Started wearing croc's and life is good.

Re: Crocs will kill you

The real problem with shoes is that a really good pair of shoes will cost a fortune. Shoes are made on the cheap for the "Average bloke", which means they don't fit anybody correct. If you notice most stores sell one or two widths. If you don't have the right foot it is only a matter of time before you experience foot problems. Going to the next size up to get the width and you are just asking for problems.

Same ailment here. My foot doctor prescribed Vionics and the problem seems to have abated over the last two years.
A little pricey at $60 but they last over a year with daily use.

Re: Crocs will kill you

I don't believe the expert opnion. We weren't born wearing nikes etc. My personal belief backed up by nothing is that enclosing our feet in shoes everyday weakens them, crocs are obviously still shoes but don't give the same level of support, and I believe the support in shoes is the problem. If you wear a cast on your arm what happens to the muscles? They atrophy. I believe the same thing happens to your feet with conventional foot wear.

Re: Crocs will kill you

Sandals- Keens- Daytona Model (open toe) or Newport (closed toe)
Flips- Rainbows -they have arch support model or flat. They have a good lifetime- 4 yrs so far on mine.

You will pay a bit more for all of them, but quality costs
In US Keens - $99.00, Rainbows - $60

Re: Crocs will kill you

If you don't want to wear something with a back or strapped on (real sandals with sun screen } go barefoot or go overboard. I timely question, my wife did a head first 270 yesterday because the crocs had traction and her foot slipped out during a speedy change in direction.
