You have to give it to south Florida. They are doing everything in their power to make the Bahamas not just the more beautiful alternative to boating in Florida, but the cheaper one as well.

My question to the forum is - is this even remotely what I should have expected to pay for Ft. Lauderdale? After all this is a city run marina and so I expected the pricing to be under the typical going rate for the more high priced/high style marinas in Ft. Lauderdale.

We just left there, stayed three nights. Guys were nice. Marina facilities disappointing, had issue with only Luke warm water in showers which was ongoing. Other folks not impressed either. Location, location, location dictates price. Old Port Cove is a better choice till they get the construction done.

Wow! I’m impressed by the number of responses! Thank you! In my case it was too late to look into other options but I have subsequently checked out the private home option and will certainly consider that next time!! However, the rule about no Liveaboard is certainly a bummer!

Looking forward to being Bahama’s bound quite shortly!!

The residential canals are not zoned for liveaboard, nor do they have pump-out facilities.
If somebody spend a night or two on a boat, it can be over-looked, maybe. Depends on the neighbors. Some of us dive on the boats for sinks and prop cleaning and hate to get turds stuck to the neck hairs.

Some canals, like Hendricks Isle, Isle of Venice and other canals of Las Olas are okay for liveaboards, but obviously higher rates than the regular residential canals zoned for no liveaboards. Going rates in my ‘hood is $12 per foot per month. (No liveaboards)
I have 2 docks available on the New River for long term rent, up about 45’ mono hulls. They are both close to David Blvd Bridge.
