Composite Propane Tank

Any opinions on the new fiberglass translucent propane tanks?
Are the safe?
Definitely lighter and nice to see amount remaining.

Re: Composite Propane tank

I'm in my second season with one (Ragazzi?) have'nt blown up yet. My older steel tanks all rusted away or became obsolete. So far so good with the composite.

Re: Composite Propane tank

A lot of boats I see in the Caribbean use them.
I just bought 2 to replace my old large steel tanks which were way too heavey to easily manhandle.
I hope they're good!

Re: Composite Propane tank

New? Where?

I have seen them back in 2003 in Sweden and they were absolutely not new then there. They have been around for at least 10 years now.

They would not be sold and rented if they were not safe.

The nice thing is they are light - if you care - I do - I have to carry ours on my back at times.

BTW They corrode too - the one onboard now has a very nasty rusty ring round the fitting - exactly where the fitting meets the plastic. But we do not fill'em, we swap, so I will keep eye on things next time.

Cheers,
b.
