Clear Plastic Cleaner Recommendation

Hi,

I have clear plastic plastic on my dodger that I am having trouble cleaning the crud off.

I've used Meguiar's 17 Clear Plastic Cleaner in the past. It worked, with some muscle. But not now.

I've also tried Sumner 210 with the same results.

Any suggestions on how to clean up the clear plastic would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Chris

Re: Clear Plastic Cleaner Recommendation

If you can, find out which clear plastic it is. They are different, and the different manufacturers of it make different recommendations.

What we are using is Novus 1, plastic clean and shine. It does nothing to remove scratches, for that, one needs a polish.

Re: Clear Plastic Cleaner Recommendation

the hot aussie sun has got to my clears, but only in areas directly facing into the sun, the guy who made the enclosure for me said that it might be a "bad batch" of plastic, he will replace at a reduced cost. In the mean time after having tried several polishes/cleaners to no avail, I used "Mothers Nulens headlight restore kit". Whilst not perfect ( i didnt give it a serious go, that will come later) I can at least see thru the area in question, compared to another area on the same panel which is still completely opaque

I use Plexus. Expensive but works great.

Re: Clear Plastic Cleaner Recommendation

Believe it or not, Deep Woods Off (DWO") can clean up discolored plastic. I learned that from a clerk at a NAPA Auto-Parts Store when I was shopping for a headlight lens cleaner/restorer. (Evidently it is common knowledge in the car care business.) He suggested using a bit of DWO on a clean cloth then followed up with a polish using Meguiar's Plast-X cleaner/polish. Tho' I has some misgivings, I tried it out on a corner of the headlight lens on my 15 year old car and it really worked. You might try it on a small area in a less conspicuous corner of your dodger screen to see whether it will work with the plastic you have. Might be just the trick, eh?

FWIW...
