Interesting how a question about going cruising turned into a discussion about investment. Anyway, a good example are the banks I'm Oz, You would be far better off buying stock and getting the capital growth and dividends than you ever would be putting the same amount of cash on deposit in the same bank.

There are good Investment Trust on the market in Oz, based on solid cash flow income that regularly return 8% +. There is no need to accept 2-3% from the banks anymore.

Apparently the 'regularly 8%' is less regular than fixed 2-3%?

Ole risk/return rabbit.

I think my countryman (same town even) is referring to stocks of several major Aussie companies have consistently been paying dividend yields of around 5%. As to returns on investment, well who knows where that is going... but the dividends are great.

Have you ever been in Ukraine, dealt with Ukrainian business? I lived 1.5 years in Ukraine, and would not invest a penny there
Yes I have been there and when I was there the first time every cop was on the take and anything was game there was no effective gov and no one was getting paid, over the years things went from bad to worse and then back to bad then back to worse,I understand things will change very soon(for good) and am looking at some projects to get involved in...I have been marketing and flying Aeros hangliders for 17yrs? and have also dealt with Belarussans and find the Ukrainians much easier to deal with, although no one delivers like the Czechs and Poles (except Germans of course duh!) and all that being said, I think there is going to be some good investments coming soon,so if a person was going cruising and was looking for an investment for his money, I think investing in the American fracking industry should return nice dividens, course I jump off mountians for kicks so take it for what its worth(2 cents!)
