The bridge is finally being rebuilt so the long walk should be gone by Fall.

I'm very impressed with SJYH. Staff is outstanding and the liveaboard community is very welcoming.

Currents can be an issue but not bad.

Currents here really are serious and can make getting in and out a real challenge. Dockhands are pretty useless.

The best way to find a liveaboard slip is to show up clean and well dressed with pictures of a well-maintained boat. Email and phones simply don't do for more than making an appointment.

My wife and I are looking at the Charleston area to liveaboard for awhile and are curious what you found.

They do, sorta.

It's a condo marina, and slip OWNERS can live aboard... although I don't know if there's a quota on that.

I think they do have a quota on how many TENANTS (renting from OWNERS) can live aboard.

For TRANSIENTS, they have a maximum-stay rule; 3 months aboard max, when we were there over the winter.

That was then, of course, so things can always change...

Re: Charleston SC area marinas

Does anyone know of someone renting a liveaboard for a few months? In the process of moving. Would love to live on a boat at St. John's Marina. Thanks!
